Split System Heat Pumps:
Echelon™ 8T Heat PumpColeman® comfort is yours all
season long with our split system heat pump design.
In summer, it draws heat out of your home to cool it.
In the winter, it draws heat from outside air into your
home to warm it. Many heat pumps have a booster
electrical-resistance heater that automatically heats
outside air even more. Outside air always has heat in
it — even at very low outdoor temperatures.
Here's what makes it work:
A "split system" heat pump is like a central air
conditioner, which includes an outdoor compressor,
fan, outdoor coil, indoor coil, and a refrigerant. The
system reverses the cycle used during summer cooling
(which is measured by using SEER, Seasonal Energy
Efficiency Ratio) and to provide winter heating
(measured by using HSPF, Heating Season
Performance Factor).
A heat pump uses electricity as its power source.
The basic components of a heat pump are:
(natural or propane)or oil furnace with coil.
- Ductwork to transfer the heated or cooled
air throughout the home.

The heat pump condensing unit is the outdoor part of a
versatile system of heating and air conditioning. It is
designed to be custom matched with one of our indoor
function for either furnace and/or air handler applications.
All units are factory charged to assure optimum
performance and easy installation. All models are hybrid
heat compatible.
The Coleman echelon series heat pump or air conditioner
is extremely quiet and can be placed anywhere around the
As seen in this heat pump picture, you have an outdoor
running between them. This would be considered a dual
fuel hybrid system.

A note from the owner:
I have come to the conclusion that its not really the brand that makes you
comfortable its the company behind that brand, of course there are a few
exceptions to the rule, but I find most customers choosing Alpine Heating &
Cooling is because they are most comfortable with us. We are
experienced, we stand behind what we sell, we provide great service and
we appreciate our customers. That being said we carry two great brands of
equipment, American Standard and Coleman.
We are well informed and trained in both the American Standard and
Coleman brands and feel either brand will provide you with comfort for
many years to come. The reason we carry 2 brands is simple, to give our
customers more choices, both brands have very unique features.

The difference is electric:
A heat pump does the job of an air conditioner and a furnace. But unlike a
furnace, it doesn't burn fuel to create heat. It uses electricity to keep your
home warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and comfortable all year
round. American Standard's Heritage® heat pump family offers exclusive
comfort technology and a range of options to give you the most quiet,
efficient and comfortable home heating and cooling you've ever experienced.
An economical option for homes with gas and electricity available:
If you live in a colder climate and have a gas/electric system, a heat pump
can save you money on your heating bills*. A Heritage Hybrid™ comfort
system combines a Heritage® Heat Pump with a Freedom® furnace,
allowing you to respond to fluctuations in utility costs by switching between
gas and electric heat.
